A pile of wood was left a the front of our house for quite some time, but despite the best of intentions and advice to move it – it was too late.

A small water leak in the bathroom had attracted them through the house. They left a trail of destruction as they made their way up the wall, across a main supporting beam, towards the bathroom.

If we had of detected them earlier – the damage would’ve been minimised. However, the result was pretty serious and required the installation of a new metal beam for support, holes in walls, as well as the necessary treatments to get rid of them. Even getting rid of them was much harder given how established they were by the time we got onto it.

Now we have a perimeter system installed and have annual inspections. But it’s frustrating to know that the structural damage we now have was 100% preventable.

We should have taken termites more seriously.  I don’t think annual inspections are an option anymore, they’re a must!
